#Repost @kimschlagfitness Fabulous answer to a question I get a lot: “I’m eating the right amount of calories, but I’m not losing weight, why?” @Regrann from @chadhargrove1 - Ever create a calorie deficit with one of those calculators and it didn’t work? - Today I’ll explain why it didn’t work. - Before I get into, a coupe things to note: - 1. The 1600 number used is an example. I have many clients that come to having noted trying to lose fat on 1000-1200 calories daily — sometimes even less — this 1600 number is used because it’s close to where I often have those clients track once they start. 2. You don’t have to eat perfectly to create a deficit and lose fat. Don’t take the food choices too literally. I’ll explain what I mean here as I go along. - So here’s kinda how a fat loss plan works. - Use a calculator, set the calories. - Aim to get the calories, right. - Get lean, lose stubborn body fat, see some muscle definition and tone up. - Easy, right? - But it hasn’t happened this way for you has it? - Here’s the main reason why. The only reason it’s exciting information is because it’s very often the truth. - You say you’re eating 1600 calories a day (again, for example ), but you’re actually eating 2100 a day (again, example ) - You say you’re eating a certain amount, but it’s more. - Whether it’s being a little too off daily, or going off by quite a bit more than you think on the weekends, this is usually it. - Your calorie deficit doesn’t work, because you aren’t actually in a deficit. - And although someone may say “ya but if you have a hormonal imbalance or hypothyroid, a deficit doesn’t work”. - Now, what needs to be understood is a deficit is confirmed by weight loss over time — ignore day to day fluctuations. If no weight loss, there is no deficit. - Certain situations — relativity rare situations — can impact metabolism to a point a deficit is more difficult or would potentially be unhealthy to strive for, if you’re in a deficit you lose weight. - And if you’ve aimed for a deficit before, to lose fat, the answer is almost always you just ate more than you thought. And if you really suspect a medical issue, go to your doctor to confirm.

#Repost @mealplans ( @get_repost ) ・・・ @mealplans SKINNY CHICKEN AND AVOCADO CAESAR SALAD Author: Karina - @cafedelites Serves: 4 INGREDIENTS Salad: ½ ciabatta loaf (120g | 4oz ), sliced 2 whole Chicken Breast fillets (about 500g | 1lbs ), skinless and boneless, halved horizontally to make 4 fillets 1 tablespoon garlic powder 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes Pinch of salt 200g | 7oz shortcut bacon, cut into strips 2 eggs, boiled to your liking (soft of hard boiled ), sliced 2 baby cos lettuce, washed and dried 1 Avocado, sliced ½ cup shaved parmesan cheese Dressing: ⅔ cup greek yogurt 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 garlic cloves, crushed 2 anchovy fillets, finely chopped (or sub with 2 tablespoons black pitted olives, chopped finely and 1 teaspoon fish sauce ) Juice of ½ a lemon 3 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese Salt and pepper for seasoning INSTRUCTIONS Preheat the oven to grill/broil settings on medium - high heat. Place the bread slices onto an oven tray; drizzle with olive oil and bake in the oven (on middle shelf ) until crispy. While bread is grilling, prepare chicken: Rub the chicken breast with the garlic powder, parsley flakes and salt. Heat a non stick grilling pan/skillet with a drizzle of olive oil and fry chicken until golden on both sides. Remove the chicken and set aside onto a warm plate. Add the bacon strips to the same pan, and fry until golden and crispy. While the bacon is frying, boil your eggs to your liking (and don't forget to check your bread in the oven )! PERDER GRASA Y AUMENTAR MÚSCULO ¿LOS DOS AL MISMO TIEMPO? - NO‼️No se puede. Aunque muchos te ofrezcan ese plan maravilloso donde lograrás todos tus objetivos, lamento decirte que no es posible. ¿Por qué? Muy simple. Para perder grasa debes estar en un déficit calórico (comer menos calorías de las que quemas ) mientras que, para aumentar masa muscular debes superar tus calorías de mantenimiento (llevar una dieta hipercalórica ). Como ven, son 2 cosas totalmente opuestas, por lo que, no se pueden realizar al mismo tiempo. Pero ahora, ¿Por qué muchos dicen que es posible? - Al aumentar masa muscular, tu % de grasa se reduce, lo cual no significa necesariamente que haya reducido grasa (El % de grasa es la PARTE de tu cuerpo que es grasa, no la CANTIDAD de grasa que tienes en tu cuerpo ) Si aumentas músculo, el porcentaje de grasa se reducirá sin haber perdido grasa, ya que ahora tienes más masa en el cuerpo, lo que afecta los porcentajes. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• En verdad espero que les haya gustado mucho el post de hoy! Hi guys! Just wanted to post and explain why I haven't been very active up here. I'm pregnant! It was a huge surprise but we couldn't be happier 😊. This first trimester has been kicking my butt. For a couple weeks I couldn't keep anything down. Was put on meds to help with with nausea but that had me sleeping all day. I'm doing better now and able to eat and drink without it coming back up and I'm off the meds. So tho I'm not posting food pics (because they are really random lol ), I've been here stalking you guys and still liking pics lol. So I'm going to enjoy this journey (3rd and final time ) and get right back on track once the baby comes and as I'm sure the baby weight will need to go lol. White vs brown rice by @smurray_32 - I’m sure you have all heard it at some stage or another “white rice is bad & brown rice is good” however is it true? To an extent yes however as with any food, no food is really “good” or “bad”, simply “superior” or “inferior” in terms of micronutrient composition. ➖ Therefore, as you can see, brown rice does have a slightly superior micronutrient profile than white as white rice will have its bran & germ layers removed thus losing some of its micronutrients. however is this a “bad” thing? IT DEPENDS. ➖ As with anything, when comparing one food & another you need to consider them in the context of your diet as a WHOLE. For someone who eats countless amounts of vegetables, fruits etc. per day, ALREADY achieving large amounts of micronutrients & fibre, white rice may actually be a BETTER option in order to avoid gastric discomfort by increasing fibre content even more. Conversely, for those who eat pop tarts all day & thus, highly micronutrient/fibre deficient, brown rice may be a better option, it’s all about CONTEXT! In fact, studies show that, despite the higher nutrient contents of brown rice compared to white rice, experimental data does not provide evidence that brown rice diet is in any way “better” than white (Callegaro & Tirapegui 1996 ). ➖ Furthermore, in terms of the glycaemic index, yes, white rice will be higher GI than brown (Miller et al 1992 ) however this is only relevant when the food is consumed in ISOLATION. However, via the addition of fat, fibre and/or protein (as you would by eating rice with some veggies and meat etc. ) the GI response is diminished (Moghaddam et al 2006, Cui et al 1999 ). These effects also seen for if a food is taken before or after the consumption of a high GI carb (Sugiyama et al 2003 ). ➖ Moral of the story: Both are a great carb source and can be part of a healthy diet & though brown rice may have a slight edge nutritionally, this isn’t inherently a “bad” thing.
